J.G. Agardh (1848:312) cites a specimen from the western coast of Australia (Mus. Paris!), there is no informartion to indicate where the specimen may have been collected. I assume that this is the original material and is probably from the French Expeditions collecting in the WA Damperian. Millar & Kraft 1994 Australian Systematic Botany 7:34 indicate NSW records excluded. Phillips & Price (1997 Australian Systematic Botany 10) have not found this taxon in QLD. It has been recorded by J.G. Agardh for warmer waters of Australia (Port Denison).
