Agardh cites Cabrera 1823 Physiographiska sallskapets arsberattelse p. 99 as an earlier synonym but Cabrera in turn cites Agardh indicating that Agardh was published first. Lewis (1987:17) questions the presence of this taxon in QLD. Millar & Kraft (1994:433) for data on Codium lucasii. See also Silva et al 1996 Univ Calif Public Bot. 79:851 who indicate that the Indian Ocean citations of this taxon are actually C. arabicum.
