  • Comment: This taxon not found in Australia. The taxon is listed in the database since it is the type of a genus. Listings of this taxon in Australia are either referrable to N. annulata or N. van -bosseae. Valet 1969 Nova hedwigia 17:595 indicates he has analysed original material from PC.
  • Comment: Lewis indicates this name has been used for specimens of both N. annulata and N. vanbosseae. Sonder 1871 Abhandlungen aus dem Gebiete der Naturwissenschaften herausgegeben von dem Naturwissenschaften Verein in Hamburg 5(2):68, 73-74 taf. V fig 8-13 discusses this taxon but does not indicate where the specimens he draws come from. Valet 1969 Nova hedwigia 17:596 indicates these Sonder drawings are N. van-bosseae.
