Womersley indicates the name is typified by a holotype but there are three specimens on the type sheet, although the one chosen does have a label 'No Bb' associated with it Agardh does indicate he saw the original material in Paris. Type is illustrated in Min-Thein & Womersley 1976 Australian Journal of Botany 24:fig. 65A.
