  • Type locality: Epiphytic on some larger Melanophyceae, such as Egregia Menziesii, Laminaria Sinclairii, L. Andersonii, and Pterygophora californica. Known from central California, Fort Point and Land's End, San Francisco; Duxbury Reef and Tomales Bay, Marvin County; and Cypress Point, Monterey County. Type, Herb. Univ. calif. no. 294559 (Gardner, no. 4441) from Fort Point. April, 1919.
