This record is relies on the MELU specimens labelled P. gymnospora from Cape York. Other authors have also used the name P. gymnospora for specimens of P. australis.
-
The Cape York specimens cited by Sonder are either Padina australis or P. tetrastromatica (Phillips & Price Aust. Syst. Bot. 10:695-696). Lucas (1961) records are not from newly collected material.
