• Comment: This is considered to be the base name for Amphiroa interrupta Lamouroux. It is my belief that Lamouroux was describing a new species based on Australian material and not transferring the Lamarck binomial to Amphiroa. It is questionable whether this name is in fact related to Metagoniolithon.
