  • Comment: Indian Ocean and tropical records are probably not this taxon (see Phillips & Price 1997 Aust. Syst. Bot 10:695, Silva et al 1996 Univ Calif Public Bot. 79:604). The specimens cited by Harvey 1855 Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy 22:535 (#158) have not been reinvestigated as of 1998. Womersley 1987 indicates that the Kermadec Is. specimens are not this taxon yet Adams 1994 Seaweeds of New Zealand. An Illustrated Guide lists this species as collected in the Kermadecs.
