De Clerck et al 2006 J. Phycol. 42:1284 specifically exclude this taxon from synonymy with Dictyota until further DNA evidence is forthcoming. The Qld records of this taxon which are based on Sonder specimen MEL 17105 are incorrect. The specimen is a Galaxaura.
