Comment: This record is based upon a Sonder specimen, MEL 16804. Sonder indicated there was a relationship between this new variety and Spatoglosssum versicolor Kuetzing (type locality Brazil, heterotypic synonym of Stypopodium zonale (Lamouroux) Papenfuss).
