Silva et al indicate this name is a heteotypic synonym of C. peltata. As of June 1996 the official synonymy has not been made. In the upcoming 'Algae of Australia' account of Caulerpa by Ian Price this name is placed in synonymy with C. racemosa var. laetevirens. Womersley 2003 The Marine Benthic Flora of Southern Australia Pt IIID p. 499 lists this taxon as a pest species.

Silva et al indicate that this taxon is a taxonomic synonym of C. peltata but the formal synonymy has not been made as of June 1996.
