The future 'Algae of Australia' account of this taxon by Ian Price will return the species to Caulerpa cupressoides var. lycopodium. The Lord Howe Island specimens are now referred to C. cupressoides var lycopodium f elegans (Kraft 2000 Aust Syst Bot 13:598).
