  • Comment: Wood 1954 Australian Journal of Marine & Freshwater Research 52:208 indicates that some of the dinoflagellates described in the literature under O. magnificus or Histoneis magnificus(a) represent this taxon rather than O. magnificus. Similarly some of the dinoflagellates described in the literature under O. steinii represent this taxon rather than O. steinii, e.g., O. steinii sensu Kofoid. Bohm 1936 Bishop Museum Bull. No 137 pp. 27-29 discusses some problems between these taxa.
